Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex is often positioned away from Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Queen at royal events and this is the reason why.
On many occasions, the Duchess of Sussex being positioned away from other members of the royal family during royal engagements has sparked a furore.
Earlier in November, Meghan was spotted separate from Kate and the Queen during the Remembrance Parade.
The Duchess stood beside Elke Büdenbender, the wife of the Germany’s president Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in Whitehall above the Cenotaph.
Meanwhile, Camilla, Kate and the Queen all stood together to pay their respects to soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War.
Meghan was also shunned from the spotlight at the Trooping of the Colour parade, earlier in June this summer.
The Duchess made her Buckingham Palace debut this year, standing behind Kate and the Queen as the royal family watched the Colour flypast.
According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam, this is because of Meghan’s less senior role in the royal family.
Mr Fitzwilliam told a leading news daily, “Kate is the future Queen Consort being the wife of William, second in line to the throne and the future king. She therefore takes precedence.”
“It should be added that Meghan, wife of Harry who is sixth in line to the throne, has a good deal more independence being less senior and that suits her extrovert and dynamic personality very well.”
Meghan and her husband Prince Harry will be moving out of Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor early next year to prepare for the royal baby’s arrival.
The royals will be renovating the five-bedroom cottage to include a nursery and space for a live-in nanny.
The house will undergo extensive renovations, with two orangery extensions and plans to build a bedroom above a studio on the grounds of the cottage.
Meghan and Harry will be paying for the decorative costs, but renovations will be covered by the taxpayer.
The move comes amid speculations of rising tensions in the royal family.
Meghan and her sister-in-law Kate are said to be on sour terms, amid a rumoured a split in the royal household.
The royal family are spending Christmas at the Queen’s Norfolk residence, which can prove difficult for the royals who have “very different” personalities.
Mr Wilson reportedly revealed, “Kate’s a homebody and loves being with her own immediate family at Christmas – off-duty and relaxed.”
“Sandringham Christmases can be an ordeal, even for those born royal – and generally those who’ve married into the family often can’t wait to get away.
“As with many seasonal family gatherings, there can be undercurrents and the publicity over the Meghan clash won’t make things any easier between the girls.”
