The first ever song ‘Aankh Marey’ from Simmba starring Sara Ali Khan and Ranveer Singh has hit written all over it! The remixed version of the ‘90s hit number Aankh Maarey from the film, Tere Mere Sapney, which had Arshad Warsi has been remixed in the best possible way.
Composed by Tanishk Bagchi and written by Shabbir Ahmed, the song has been sung by Neha Kakkar, Mika Singh and Kumar Sanu.
A foot-tapping number sees Sara Ali Khan matching steps with the more seasoned Ranveer Singh in this Karan Johar production. It is catchy, Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan impress with their dancing skills and has Rohit Shetty’s signature style of presentation.
Sharing the video, Karan Johar wrote: “Party song of the party season!here it is!#AankhMarey”
The over 3-minute song is set in a circus-like atmosphere there are motor cyclists showing their biking skills, fireworks and torches glow in the background along with a jazzy array of lights as the lead pair make an entry.
You can clearly make out Sara Ali Khan is just born for the camera. She’s hear to make in Bollywood and already shows signs of a true blue Bollywood star in the making. Ranveer, of course, needs no mention when it comes to his talent.
The video of the song starts with Karan Johar dancing to the beat of the song and saying ‘Oh God, One more remix!’ Ranveer and Sara then take over the dance number.
There is also a cameo of the Golmaal team. Kunal Kemmu, Shreyas Talpade and Tushar Kapoor appear halfway through the dance number and in an homage to the original song from Tere Mere Sapne, Arshad Warsi appears and he is seen lip-syncing to Kumar Sanu’s voice.
We loved when the part where Shreyas Talpade says, “Tushar Kapoor ki awaz mein (In Tushar Kapoor’s voice)” and it starts with the ‘Eo Oo Aan’ the classic Tushar Kapoor’s style of talking in Golmaal.
The original version of “Aankh Marey” was sung by Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamurthy for the 1996 film Tere Mere Sapne, which was the debut of Arshad Warsi. The music was given by Viju Shah.
The new track is fun, nostalgic and upbeat. It can easily be called an updated version of the original song. Directed by Rohit Shetty, Simmba releases on December 28.
